An implant, also known as an implantable drug delivery preparation, is a controlled-release drug formulation that is surgically implanted subcutaneously or delivered via needle injection or needle-free injection. Through implantation method of drug delivery, the medication easily reaches systemic circulation and exhibits high bioactivity. The dose of released medicine is low and the rate is uniform, and drug release follows a rate-limited absorption process, resulting in stable blood concentrations that can last for months or even years. The subcutaneous nerves have a wide distribution and show lower foreign body reactions, less stimulation and pain after implantation. Once the implant is removed, the body can return to its original state.
