Hot-melt extrusion granulation is a process in which APIs, carriers, and various excipients are added to an extruder. at the mechanical force of the extruder and the heat energy applied outside the barrel, the materials are melted, dispersed, and mixed, so that APIs and various excipients are uniformly dispersed in the carrier. Then, through a devolatilization operation, degraded small molecules and water are removed from the materials. Finally, the materials are extruded into granules by the extruder screw to build up the pressure. Hot-melt extrusion technology combines the advantages of solid dispersion technology and mechanical preparation, achieving no dust, good reproducibility, and extremely high production efficiency, and can realize continuous production.
